ABOUT

In 1981, our family embarked on a journey that would shape our lives and the land we call home. Nestled in the beautiful landscape of Georgia, our 40+ acre property holds a rich history. Remnants of the past still grace our land, including stone foundations of the old grist mill.

At the heart of our homestead is Barry, the patriarch and visionary behind Cotton River Farm. His expertise comes from a 40+ year career in construction and a family legacy of carpentry. He started framing houses in 1979 and wrote the Roof Framer's Bible in 1994. Barry left an indelible mark on the construction industry during his career. He now enjoys retirement on the homestead.

Enter Natalie, the eldest child, devoted mother, wife, and former nurse turned homemaker. She returned to the family homestead in 2020 in search of peace amidst life's chaos. Her daughter's love for chickens helped reignite the family's passion for chicken keeping.

Our love for chickens continued to grow. This meant we needed a simple + affordable coop solution. Thus, our journey began to perfect the design and simplify construction of a coop. We sought to offer a cost-effective and accessible solution to fellow homesteaders.

The story of Cotton River Farm is one of heritage and rediscovering the cherished simplicity found in nature. Come along on our journey!
